The world might not be ready just yet to come back to Thailand, but all of us locals are sure as hell ready to do some end-of-year travelling around the country. We are nearing the end of the year (AKA the best weather of the year), and it’s worth taking a moment to appreciate how many amazing, world-class travel destinations there are in our own backyard. Just to sweeten the pot a bit, TAT is offering a new "Expat Travel Bonus" package in collaboration with 350 hotels and airlines throughout the country. The promotion has some pretty awesome deals, and you can check all of those out here.

Phuket - Beautiful Architecture and Crystal Blue Water

People often forget that Phuket is one of the best places in the country to see old Sino-Portuguese architecture. It adds a bit of a glitzy vibe to the place that other southern hot spots don’t have. Make sure you check out Kathu House on Thalang Road (also known as The Old Town and Soi Rommanee.

Chonburi - An Introspective Adventure

If you want your trip to be more about inner self than outer self-enjoyment, go to Chonburi to enjoy Prasat Sajjatham (The Sanctuary of Truth)—one of the world’s largest all wood-carved structures. This 105-meter-tall building is a temple-slash-museum, with a gallery showing amazing artwork related to the philosophy of Buddhism.

Chiang Mai - To the Top and Back

Some say travelling and being active help relieve stress, so why not do both? Head to Chiang Mai where mountain trekking and nature sightseeing are some of the best in the nation. Some favorites include Doi Inthanon, which contains a complex ecological system and wildlife, and Mae On with a peaceful rural village to enjoy the slow life.

Ubon Ratchathani - A Fashionista’s Dream

Ubon Ratchathani has many charming cultures that you won’t be able to experience anywhere else. Clothing addicts will love the hand-woven cloth with unique patterns and high-quality textiles that work well for many different occasions. Folk-pattern pillows and brass wares are also recommendable as you would want some souvenirs for people back at home.

Bangkok - The Hub of Culture Sightseeing

Being the capital of Thailand with growing economics, Bangkok is a huge melting pot blending Chinese, Thai, and Western culture as one. The must-see sites include Yaowarat—Thailand’s largest Chinese trading community and Bangkok’s “Old Town”—to find heavenly delicious street food, knickknacks at bargain prices, Cho Su Kong Chinese shrine, to famous restaurants.

Before packing your bags and taking the journey, here’s one more tip: check out the Expat Travel Bonus, a campaign by TAT offering special deals from more than 350 hotels and reliable airlines for Thai people and expats in Thailand, to get discounts and promotions to make the best out of your trip.
