This year has been a doozy to say the least, especially for the local businesses that we all care about so much. With lockdowns and the general population still a bit weary about going outside, it’s still a struggle for many of these businesses and local communities to survive. That’s the inspiration behind “CHEERITY: Let’s Cheer up together at Central Embassy”, an event hosted by Central Embassy and six partners including Praew magazine, BKKMENU, SpicyDisc, Intersect Design & Factory, students, and Ruam Jai Market - Thais helping Thais by Central Group, with the aim to help support local business through special events, pop-up shops, auctions and charity donations. The event will happen in two phases, from Aug 26-30 and Sep 7-13.

Phase one sees areas open across Central Embassy’s Level G all the way up to OPEN HOUSE on Level 6. For phase one, the mall is joining hands with six partners, including Praew magazine, BKKMENU, SpicyDisc, Intersect Design & Factory, students, and the public, together with the Ruam Jai Market - Thais helping Thais by Central Group. The partners have helped organize to bring over 200 SMEs, farmers and communities to set up shops across the various floors — each of the businesses have been negatively affected by Covid-19. They will be selling all kinds of wares, with special promotions, fundraising activities by famous artists and mini-concerts.

Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Chaipattana Foundation through the Tiang Chirathivat Foundation to promote the development of welfare, to aid people in economic hardship and to provide a better quality of life and self-sufficiency.

Some of the highlights from phase one include “Pink Syndicate”, a celebrity auction and market hosted by PRAEW Magazine & Spicydisc. The event will include special shops hosted by celebrity sellers. Those who are interested in joining the auction (there are only 50 spots available) can find more information at www.facebook.com/centralembassy.

Level 2 will feature a wide variety of quality products from “Ruam Jai Market - Thais helping Thais by Central Group” with a “green house” theme. This is where you’ll find products from farmers, communities and entrepreneurs affected by Covid-19 (more than 100).

Level 3 is where you will find the student market, called the “Red-ucation” STUDENT MARKET SQUARE, housing student-made accessories, home decors, snacks and beverages.

Venture up to OPEN HOUSE on Level 6 to shop at the Creative Flea Market packed with handmade products of all kinds. From Aug 29-30, there will be a Cheese Pie Cake Workshop, from 12-6pm where you can learn to design and make your very own cheese pie.

Central The 1 credit card holders can get B2,000 in Central Embassy vouchers and Central Gift Vouchers when they spend B10,000 (200 rewards). There are also extra gifts and goodies when you shop at the stores within the shopping center.

All of that is just phase one. Phase two, happening Sep 7-13, features the “SACICT PLEAN CRAFT” event, organised by The SUPPORT Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand (SACICT), in collaboration with Central Embassy and Central Department Store, under the Central Group. This open space will be provided for Thai master artisans and handicraftsmen, bringing with them the beauty of Thai handicrafts, adapted to an urban lifestyle.
