Famous Bangkok-based architect Bill Bensley has announced his first international art auction to celebrate World Environment Day. The auction, which has started already and will continue through Jun 30, features 10 of Bensley’s works and will contribute 90-percent of its sales proceeds to Shinta Mani Foundation and Wildlife Alliance. Bidding is ongoing through two online channels, River City Bangkok Auctions and Invaluable. 

The art on auction is part of a larger exhibition by Bensley, titled “The Outsider Art of Bill Bensley”. That showcase will start in September of this year and feature 90 pieces of art from Bensley over the past three years. The 90 pieces are presented in five chapters: Environmentalism, pestilence, racism, idiosyncratic behaviors of the LGBTQ community, and dreams

“This is my first ever public exhibition and  I am intrepid,” said Bensley. “I have always loved art, and been envious of great artists as they make it look so easy. I enjoy art that seems accessible - that I feel as though I could do it myself. I suppose that is why I have always liked the genre of Outsider art as it welcomes one and all, while still holding a challenge for the artist. Art is, to me, very much about storytelling, teaching, and making a difference - I paint, always, to raise funds for people in need, and to protect our Mother Earth, via the Wildlife Alliance and Shinta Mani Foundation.”
