The Sukosol family name has long been synonymous with some of Bangkok’s glitziest hotels, but you might not have known that they have some serious musical chops. This Nov. 21-23, the family is hitting the stage at The Sukosol Hotel in Phaya Thai to perform a ton of classic songs, like “A Star is Born,” “The Lion King,” “The Sound of Music,” and the Elton John biopic “Rocketman.” 

The musically gifted family is led by  Kamala Sukosol—a jazz singer, who has performed for H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri ’s birthday. Kamol “Sukie” Sukosol started Bakery Music at the age of 22, and the record label went on to become one of Thailand’s most famous—launching the likes of Pru, Joey Boy, Modern Dog, Pause and Yokee Playboy. The family does have a bona fide celebrity in its ranks too—Krissada ‘Noi’ Sukosol is renowned for his acting (“13 Beloved”) and is also a rock star (Pru). Marisa Sukosol Nunbhakdi is also a gifted singer, as well as vice-president of Sukosol Hotels. 

Together the family has been performing for more than three decades, often for charities like the Red Cross and UNICEF. All proceeds from the Broadway-inspired concert will benefit the Princess Sirindhorn Craniofacial Center of the Thai Red Cross Society.

Hit songs featured at the show will include “Shallow” and “I’ll Never Love Again” (from “A Star is Born”); “Circle of Life” and “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” (from the “Lion King”); a jazz take on “My Favorite Things”; crowd-pleasing rock anthems from “Rocketman”; a medley of Michael Jackson classics performed by Noi; plus many more surprises. Another sure highlight is a duet featuring Kamala and Noi called “It’s Not The End.”

The concert will also include a big band orchestra, a full chorus of singers and a troupe of dancers from the Aree School of Dance Arts.
